Treatment philosophy: "I like to develop relationships with patients that stress the importance of the body's ability to heal itself and encourage a balance of mind, body and spirit. "

Special interests: Dr. Cole holds a Certification in Acupuncture after completing a 300+ hour course at Harvard University. "I enjoy using manual medicine/osteopathic treatments as an adjunct to my practice as well as incorporating the philosophy of yoga." He has a special interest in treating musculoskeletal injuries and disorders, and has volunteered his knowledge and skills in treating patients with multiple sclerosis and muscular dystrophy.

Professional journey: Dr. Cole grew up in Portland, Maine, and received his bachelor of science degree from Bates College in Lewiston, ME. He later moved to upstate New York to complete his residency and remained in that area until 1997 working as a family and emergency physician and wound care specialist. While in New York, Dr. Cole held a clinical teaching appointment at the SUNY-Syracuse before returning to New England. Prior to joining Salmon Falls Family Healthcare, Dr. Cole practiced in Hampton, NH, where he was known to his patients and colleagues as a trusted and knowledgeable family physician.

February is American Heart Month!

 

According to the CDC, cardiovascular disease, including stroke, is the leading cause of death in the United States. Knowing the signs and symptoms is critical to the having the most positive outcome after having a heart attack.  Rapid medical attention, calling 911 as soon as symptoms occur, will greatly increase the chance of survival. Although many still think of heart disease as a man's disease, women account for 47% of related deaths. The CDC also notes that women are more likely to delay seeking emergency treatment because they tend to experience the less common symptoms.

Surviving a Heart Attack

Fast action is your best defense! Getting help quickly, having clot busting or artery opening medications administered IMMEDIATELY after symptoms occur can stop or limit damage from a heart attack.  The sooner these drugs are started the more good they'll do with the greatest chance of recovery!  To be most effective these medications need to be given within 1 hour after symptoms begin.
