| Edwin Charle, MD - Medical Director |
Treatment philosophy: "I think that the most important aspect of my patient care is taking time to listen. I believe in working cooperatively with my patients to develop individually based treatment plans that fit their unique needs. I view my role as a patient guardian, advocating preventative care as well as diagnosing and treating chronic and acute illnesses. Coordinating care with other specialists is an extremely important part of my job. Many of my patients see several specialists concurrently so that reviewing treatments, lab and test results, and most importantly managing medications is paramount to what I do. Our electronic medical records system is essential in that regard." Dr. Charle strives to help his patients become more active and feel more in control of their lives. Dr. Charle also believes that family dynamics play an important role in putting together a treatment plan for his patients. "It is not unusual for me to treat several members of the same family, which quite often sharpens my insight into the individual's health needs." Special interests: Dr. Charle sees patients of all ages at Salmon Falls, but he has a special interest in geriatric medicine. "I value the wisdom and experience that our older population brings into my practice. It is often my older patients that have the more complicated health issues, resulting in more challenging and complex treatment needs." Along with his busy practice here at Salmon Falls Family Healthcare, Dr. Charle also serves as medical director for Langdon Place in Dover as well as part-time medical director for Riverside Rest Home in Dover. Professional journey: Having grown up in Ohio and traveled extensively worldwide, including four years in Nigeria, Dr. Charle gained a real appreciation for what medicine could accomplish in underserved areas. He attended the Medical College of Ohio and completed his residency in Family Practice in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Charle relocated with his family to New England and co-founded Salmon Falls Family Healthcare in 1989. He has been practicing in New Hampshire for over 20 years and is the Medical Director for Salmon Falls Family Healthcare. Education:
"When I'm not treating my patients, I enjoy... competitive swimming, running and bicycling as well as playing the cello for the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra." Dr. Charle's wife is a ceramic sculptor and they have two grown children. Co-founded SFFH in... 1989
